For short-term visits to the Maldives. You don’t need to apply before you travel. However, you must meet the entry requirements to enter the country.

Business Visa is a temporary multiple-entry visa issued to a foreign national intending to stay in the Maldives for business purposes.

A Work Visa is a permit issued for a foreigner to stay in Maldives for the purpose of employment.

A person traveling to the Maldives for the purpose of employment will be granted 15 days from the date of arrival. To acquire this pre-period, the foreign national should possess a valid Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Economic Development, which does not exceed 90 days from the date of issue. Moreover, the foreign national should provide the same passport on arrival for which the Work Permit was issued.

Re-entry on a Work Permit without obtaining a visa is possible unless the Work Permit remains valid (within 90 days from the date of issue). However, considering the circumstances, the work permit holder may be permitted to exit and enter once before obtaining a visa, provided that the work permit should remain valid.

A dependent visa is issued to immediate family members of expatriate workers (professional categories only) working in the Maldives.

Meeting Visa is granted for any foreign national visiting the Maldives for the purpose of attending a meeting, conference, or convention held in the Maldives.

This visa is effective for 14 days, and is a non-extendable visa.

A Meeting Visa holder is not eligible to obtain a Business Visa while in the Maldives.

A marriage visa allows foreigners married to Maldivian citizens to reside in the Maldives. If planning to marry a Maldivian, a sponsor must be arranged before arrival.

Those already married to a Maldivian living in the Maldives must convert their visa to a marriage visa after registering their marriage locally.

Adhering to the legal marriage process in the Maldives is mandatory for all couples.

A Special Visa is issued for specific reasons that don’t fit into other visa categories. This could be for individuals with unique circumstances approved by the Maldivian government..
